With the price of cheese, meat etc going through the roof... this is THE book! Great, quick recipes and even tips for how to have an inexpensive dinner party. Suits us down to the ground with two hungry pre-schoolers and only one income.

A great cook book to really change the way you look at food and how much you spend each week. Its also mindful of ensuring that the meals are healthy. Just a hint for the Aussies, its a Kiwi book so a couple of the ingredients have strange names. Kremelta = Copha

This book is excellent, lots of great and cheap recipes, and useful shopping tips as well. Simple, no nonsense and commonsense cooking. The best thing of all is that you won't be searching hours and hours in the supermarket for the ingredients as you will find that you have most of them already in your pantry. Recommended to all who want to save money and eat delicious food

Great book, full of good recipes with enough of a twist to make them interesting. Another hint for Aussies = 1 NZ tablespoon = 3 teaspoons, not the 4 we are used to in Oz. Be careful!
Also, be careful with oven temperatures if you have a fan forced oven (says she having learned the hard way!).

This is a fantastic book for the budget conscious who want to get back to cooking tasty low cost food. The ingredients are easy to buy and usually already in your pantry or fridge. The introduction is inspiring and informative, getting to the nitty gritty of the cost buying ready made food in the super market. My favourite recipe is the Frugal Flour Tortillas great served with Bolognaise Sauce, lettuce and grated cheese. The kids section is useful and the sauce section is a great addition too.

This is a very straight forward book that has good basic information and a relaxed attitude to cooking. Makes you think that it is all do able. Excellent, I would highly recommend this book for everyone but particularly for those setting out in their cooking journey. A great investment.

This is a great book - lots of basics and easy recipes - it really starts to get you thinking about how you can make your budget go a lot further. Great food for less, and all made from things you would have lurking in the pantry, or at the back of the fridge. I would reccomend this book for anyone who wants to know how to save a bit of money on the food budget - you will save the initial outlay for this book within a week.

I really enjoyed reading the introductory chapter on shopping wisely with your money. It would be great if the prices of items were updated. It gives good suggestions for how to stock your pantry so that you're not popping out to the shops everytime you wnt to cook a meal.
The recipes are fairly easy to make, nutritious and delicious. It's a good starting cookbook for someone who has never cooked in their life and likes homestyle food. (But not recommended if you're looking for a gourmet cookbook) It's one to give a child who about to move out of home and live on their own for a first time or for people interested in saving money and time with cooking.
