Stylish fashionable food that doesn't cost a fortune - that is the philosophy of Sophie Gray. This third "Destitute Gourmet" book introduces more ideas and more recipes to help the home cook create delicious and good looking food for all the family. Sophie Gray is a mother of two and so has the knowledge and experience to create these recipes that will keep the family interested with delicious, healthy, stylish home-made food that does not cost a fortune. As always with a "Destitute Gourmet" recipe book, the three principles of - "Shop Smart", "Eat Healthily and in Season" and "Make a Little of Something go a Long Way" - are critical. Food is one of life's greatest pleasures, and whether the family is a couple dining at home or the whole clan, this book allows the cook to keep it interesting, enjoyable and healthy.

Although this book is 5 years old, with its focus on good food at an affordable cost, it is an essential cook book to own with the continuous rise of milk, cheese, bread, meat, veg...
A kiwi cook book with good, usable, wholesome recipes using every day ingredients.
I am a big Sophie Gray fun but unfortunately this book is my least favourite out of her collection. Unlike her other books I did not find one recipe I liked or that looked normal. Sorry Sophie!
Some really good ideas for wholesome family meals and yummy snacks. The recipe we use most is Sophie's basic buttercake which makes moist cakes which freeze well and it's so easy!
My only complaint with this book is that the recipes are set out a bit ad hoc and it can be difficult to find what you're after.
Easy to follow the recipes are clearly written and the tips on the side column are helpful.
A good "back to Basics" cookbook which shows you how to stretch the budget and still have wholesome family meals buy using cheaper and basic ingredients which most of us have hidden at the back of the pantry. Gives you a bit of inspiration to get back to baking those everyday treats rather than buying expensive convenience foods.
Nicely set out cook book which covers all the basics of the Destitute Gourmet philosophy and has easily set out sections - lovely glossy photo's! Good mix of easy and more complex recipes - overall a good addition to my cookbook collection.
This is a fantastic cook book and outlines some simple and cheap recipes that can still impress. The ingredients are all common items in the pantry and even my fussy children are happy with the results. A great investment for the family budget.
This is another great Destitute Gourmet Book and I would recommend it to anyone.
Great book with super ideas on how to cook nice meals without spending a fortune. Uses basic staples from the pantry, and not obscure expensive ingredients to create meals that keep the whole family happy with full tummies. A must have addition to any kitchen.
