Jack Reacher, alone, strolling nowhere. A Chicago street in bright sunshine. A young woman, struggling on crutches. He offers her a steadying arm. And turns to see a handgun aimed at his stomach. Chained in a dark van racing across America, Reacher doesn't know why they've been kidnapped. The woman claims to be FBI. She's certainly tough enough. But at their remote destination, will raw courage be enough to overcome the hopeless odds?

One of the best Jack Reacher novels I have read thus far. Lee Child continues to intrigue me with this intricately detailed and thought provoking work of art. The scenes, action in particular, are detailed to such an extent that you have little trouble placing yourself within the firing line at the heart of the action. Reachers rebellious and uncooperative attitude is maintained perfectly within this novel and one can't help but be amazed at his bravery and eye for the most inconspicuous details imaginable. It is a must read for Jack Reacher enthusiasts.
This is the second book in the Jack Reacher series and although the series does not particularly follow any order, it was the second book to be published in the series. After reading Killing Floor, Die Trying proves to include less action as in the previous book. However the thrilling and continious suspence in Die Trying makes up for the lack of action. This book shows more of Jack Reacher's character and a bit of his past. Out of all the Jack Reacher books i have read, I rate this somewhere in the middle.
This Jack Reacher novel takes something of a different tone to it's preprocessor (Killing Floor). There is less emphasis on the mystery, rather the escaping of the situation Reacher finds himself in. This is by no means a criticism, however, as this allows for some great action scenes and suspense. The characters are well rounded, as is the enigmatic Reacher. Not my favourite Reacher novel of all, but throughly entertaining.
