Reviews

'The mathematics behind the tests is always given in considerable detail. This is admirable and helps students to see the logics behind the tests...I like the exploration of the various options for the tests he discusses, and the discussions of the pros and cons of specific variants of tests' - Nurse Researcher

5 of 5 Stars! – Customer review on 30/09/2011

Andy Field's Discovering Statistics Using SPSS is a valuable resource for students studying at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. Field uses a conversational tone throughout the book which makes the information less intimidating and takes away a lot of the convolution in the language characteristic of statistics. SPSS procedures are explained in detail and elaborated on with the use of examples, many of which can be repeated on your own computer at home with the SPSS software to ensure you're really digesting the information. Highly recommended read!

5 of 5 Stars! – Customer review on 01/03/2010

Andy Field's latest edition of the book is a must for any post-gradaute student wishing to run their own statistical analysis or wanting to understand more about interpeting statistical tests. The book is written in a very humours tone - one which is uncharteristic of a traditional statistican! The book is ordered in a unique way that makes sense to the autor but prob not to the odd student. Field uses teh actual formula's and expnations behind SPSS tests to explain and illustrate the purpose of the tests. There is alo a wide collection of examples (some on the publishers website) which the author refers to and uses. In summary, the book is a welcome edition to the student who has always found stats hard or difficult to swallow!
