My anticipation over how sumptuous and beautiful these cards would be was well founded. Visually stunning cards, with strong colours on a black background and fabulous intricate artwork. I was drawn to all of the cards and not just the major arcana. Despite the poor review of Josephine Ellershaw's companion book on the aeclectic website, I find this book great. Josephne's system for learning the cards is quite easy and informative. She draws well on the imagery from each card to give it in depth meaning and make it easier to recall. However, I always use more than one text as a cross reference. The Gilded Tarot is based on the Waite Rider deck so it is easy to interchange books as the imagery is traditional, but I find it much more inspiring than plainer decks. I would certainly consider giving this set as a gift. The cards are also on glossy thick cardstock which is easy to shuffle and of a good size. Without a doubt my favourite deck so far.
This is an excellent reference guide for new readers. I bought this pack about a year ago and everything is explained to perfection. Josephine has written the best new readers guide I have ever read and explains everything in depth which makes it so much easier to learn and get a good grasp early on.
The deck is also beautiful. Ciro Marchetti is an excellent artist and brings these cards to life with beautiful vibrant images and meaningful symbols. Definitely would recommend this pack for new readers or anyone who is looking into starting Tarot.
