About the Author

Ludmila Vasilieva is Senior Research Associate at the Department of Oriental Literature, Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Science, Moscow. She did her Masters in Philology, Urdu and Hindi language and literature from Moscow State University and Ph D in Urdu Literature from Academy of Science, USSR. She has also served as broadcaster, translator and writer for the Urdu Service of Moscow Radio. Her other publications include a book on Altaf Hussain Hali and many contributions to reputed Urdu and Russian journals. She has also translated from Russian to Urdu and vice versa.
