About the Author

Linda Nielsen is a Professor of Adolescent and Educational Psychology at Wake Forest University. A member of the faculty for 35 years, she is a nationally recognized expert on father-daughter relationships. Her work has been featured in a PBS documentary, on National Public Radio, and in dozens of magazines and newspapers. In addition to her many scholarly articles, she has written two textbooks, Adolescence: A Contemporary View and aHow to Motivate Adolescents: A guide for parents and teachers as well as two books on ways to improve father-daughter relationships, Embracing Your Father and Between Fathers and Daughters: Enriching or rebuilding your adult relationship.
