This is a huge book, in every sense of the word!! It is full of Nigellas signature chatty conversation and bulging with recipes. There are some lovely photos of the food, and Nigella herself, but not many when compared to the number of recipes given, leaving loads of room for the recipes. It was an education too, in the occasions one can use to feast! There were some celebrations I had not heard of, but every chapter is prefaced with general info about the feast, often historical facts and origins. The book has some very simple recipes, through to the very elaborate, and takes a while to get an idea of what you would like to make from it because of this, and the lack of photos. There are 22 chapters ranging from general events, such as midnight feast, kids, funerals and birthdays, to religious events with significant foods such as passover and christmas, and other more culturally influenced feasts. I would recommend it as a great book but more for those who enjoy reading cookbooks rather than just flicking and looking for a picture of something to make for dinner.
