The Awakening by Kate Chopin is an emotional novella story about a woman called Edna, who realises one day that her life as a wife and mother just is not enough for her. She searches for some meaning in life, but will she succeed and begin to lead the life she has always dreamed of, or will it all end up in tears? I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to investigate women's literature, read a classic, or just read a really good book.

Kate Chopin's The Awakening is a really good short read if you want something to just pick up and read. However, it is quite emotionally involved, and can be confusing for some young readers. The story follows Edna, who becomes exasperated with her life, and decides to try something new, which gains contempt and disgust from a lot of her peers and family. This is a really nice short read and should keep you interested despite the lack of action. It is emotionally charged instead.
