– Customer review on 08/01/2007 It's no mystery Hemingway wrote a ton of material, and while some people say his stories are all kind of the same, I disagree. I haven't read all of his work, but stories like "The Killers" and "Hills Like White Elephants" reach into completely different aspects of human nature. "The Killers" is shocking and alarming when you consider the utter indifference the hitmen in story have towards life - especially at how accurate this portrays the behavior of a sociopathic killer. "Hills like white Elephants," one of his most commonly discussed short stories, shows the natural depravity of our nature, and shows a common kind of inability to handle the consequences of our actions.
Anyway, the point is, even though Hemingway had a distinct style that can seem homogonized at times, he really grew as a writer, and this collection of short stories really demonstrates this.
