Asterix and Obelix have fans across the world and I think that I can safely say that all of them will be impressed with this latest addition to the Asterix tradition. Goscinny and Uderzo seem to be able to tutn their hand to any style of writing under the sun! First comic books, then a full-length illustrated story appeared and now this collection of short-stories. Congrats fellas!

No Asterix collection is complete without it! With some of these stories going back to the 60s, this publication is long overdue. It even fills some of the gaps in the Asterix saga, including revealing the 'secret' of Asterix and Obelix's birth.

There are a really diverse range of stories in this collection. It is nice to read some 'new' ones that have been written by Goscinny rather than Uderzo. The fact that these are all short stories displays the versatility of the authors - they are easily as able in this genre as they are in the full-length comics, which is impressive.

Having said that, some stories are better than others - Uderzo is long past his use-by date but continues to write, some of which appear in here. Never mind.
