At at time when war has caused problems for much of the world, the English have elected leadership from a far right religious part. Bad mistake.

This group takes over and moves quickly to totalitarianism, deciding that Orwell's Big Brother is a pretty good plan. Anyone different is rounded up, and dissenters are disappeared.

One of their experiments has gone slightly wrong, and a man is now in a position to do something about it, especially with the superhuman talents he now possesses.

The main focus is on the responsibilities of government to the people, and the people's responsibility to eliminate their bad governments through violence, is necessary. When does anarchy become revolution, and how far do you go to gain allies and aid in the process.

This book should not be looked down upon because it is a graphic novel or comic book.

I first read it over ten years ago and it certainly shaped the way I consider state powers and the rights of the individual.

Without wanting to appear pretentious, I have read lots of "classics" and would put "V" up there with "Les Miserables" (sorry Victor) in so far as powerul messages in print go.. plus you can read "V" in one sitting.

If you saw the movie then understand that it was a brave attempt but fell a long way short of the book.

Sadly, this book only seems to become more and more relevant. I think everyone should have a copy.

You will love this book if you loved the movie. I think that you will also pick up on more little things in the movie after. I think that many people will love it just a much as I have and will enjoy it to. Defiantly a five out of five stars book and five out of five stars buy.
