This first volume of the series introduces the character of Haruhi, a girl in a working class family, who enters a rich high school as a scholarship student. However, she stumbles upon a Host Club, an all-male club dedicated to pleasing young girls for profit. Shocked that a club exists in such a school, Haruhi accidentally breaks an vase worth $80,000. The six member club, mistaken her for a boy as she is made a club member to repay her debt. Through entering this club, Haruhi discovers the culture of the wealthy and how different they are from the middle class. A humorous series, highly recommended for teens.
