BE AWARE - At least one batch of Gerard and Jacques vol 1 has pages completely out of order in the center portion of the book. This could be why the above reviewer mentioned the story was confusing. If you think the story seems to be skipping around between a grown up Jacques delivering a message to Gerard at the brothel, and scenes from Gerard's past to do with his wife, then your book probably has pages out of order. The story is not meant to be confusing.

Return the book to the supplier, and they will replace it. However, my replacement copy came back with messed up pages as well, so I'm going to wait till I get to a Boarders outlet and can check each book myself before I re-buy a copy.

Otherwise, this is possibly the best story you can buy from BLU.

Fumi Yoshinaga's art work is clean and clear as she delivers a confusing but engaging storyline about Jacques, a rich aristocrats son who gets sold to a high class brothel by his family to pay for their depts. Gerard become acquainted with Jacques and pays off his freedom so that he may learn how hard it is to make a living as a commoner. When Gerard end up hiring Jacques as his footman he’s surprised to find that Jacques wants to actually earn his loving and not be Gerard’s live in lover.
