I am not your regular reader, this is the first book I have read in 4 or more years, liked the game,so I thought I would give the book a try.I read it casually for 2 weeks and finished it,absolutely loved it,going right onto Op.Barracuda(sequal),having played the game made the book more interesting, because you could put a face and voice to many of the characters, and cannot already wait for 3rd installment due out in November/06,after that I will graduate to a real Tom Clancy book, since most say this one did not ad up to T.C. quality, guess I will really love those....we'll see! This book got me back into reading books, not just newspapers and magazines...HOORAY!
Tom Clancy is the master action writer of our age. He stops at nothing to generate the greatest plots, characters and nail-biting suspense that set him apart from all other action writers. Clancy is truly a master and tells his tales with absolute precision, and inhuman brilliance. His books are brilliant… sensational!
If you've played the game on your Xbox, you'll really enjoy the book here. Gamers will pick up nice touches that link with other Splinter Cell media, its quite a nice touch! If you think its tacky that a successful video game spawns a book, well you have the right to think so. But do give this one a try, you'll most likely like it for what it is - a good story.
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell is based on the mega successful video game Splinter Cell, originally released in 2003. The main character Sam Fischer is a top secret agent who uses his ultra modern and silent equipment and techniques to infiltrate enemy bases without ever raising an alarm. This is a great book!
Tom Clancy is regarded by many the worlds’ leading action writer- and he certainly lives up to this! His books, although not as fast paced as those of Matthew Reilly, and engrossing, complex thrill rides. At times some of the introductions can be a little drawn out, but then, that’s what skim reading is for. The audio books make good listening and the video games are even more action!
I haven't read Tom Clancy before I thought this books was ok. It had an interesting plot and plenty of action. The main guy, Sam Fisher works for a secret US government dept. and gets posted to various positions around the world. In this mission his daughter is used as bait to try and lure him to his death.
