this book was uneventful and was not worth the wait. i assume Anita Blake is still a vampire executioner however all she seems to do lately is have graphicly detailed sex with as many men as possible. i found it boring where was the story!!
What happened to the thrills and magical action?? Quite simply aside from the last ending chapters this book is all about setting up and sex scene, graphic enactment of said sex scene or orgy. Anita Blake has now added another handful of bed fellows. The ending is pronounced with a quick metaphysicaly enforced orgy as a result of mother noir dropping in for a quick romp, Jean Claudes weakness is yet again a result of Anita lack of sexual flexibility and a new set of lycanthrops hits the scene - the white tiger clan.
A petty dimension of sex and pregnancy is thrashed into the mix and va la we have a sorry story of Anita Blakes sex life and thats about it. I find Hamilton is slipping into the habit of writing erotic fiction not metaphysical action and really am disapointed with this new constant. We all dont mind a bit of erotic action but it has utterly hijacked the plot. Anita Blake is simply too busy having repeated sex to do raise zoobies, enact her role as a Marshall or anything else for that matter.
Vampire masters, lycanthrops and anyone else are too busy dealing with her latest romps to have any other problems. I fear this is the final straw in my interest in this series as prior books like Micah just seem to hash the sexual fallout rather than getting on with any real story.
I'm a huge laurell fan, but I would have to say that, to me this was more like an in-between book and was toned down from the usual auction and drama between characters. It had more background info on Jason to better understand his character and reveals some more about Anita's powers.
Overall I enjoyed this book and I'm eagerly awaiting the next.
Lots of hot sex and very little real action. No slaying, no fights, no real magic hoodoo!. In this book she explores Jason's background and Anita's growing number of relationships. This book is more about Jason and getting to know about his background. Anita has another encounter with Marmee Noir in this installment and we see the introduction of the Tigers. I expect this book is leading to another which will heavily feature the Mother of Darkness and her animal to call!
As with the rest of the Blake series recently this is a steamy book and definately not for the prudish!
I definately agree with the previous reviews.I dont know what happened with this one but it's not as good as the previous releases,I can only hope the next one will be better, yes there will be more.I think more story line and less hot sex may be the answer for Anita Blake because(yawn)how many times can a person really get into reading about her endless conquests with numerous men?Well I for one enjoyed the first books better when the hint of a hook up made you wonder, now you just know she's going to.No police work, no raising the dead.Still I will be buying the next in the series and hoping it will be better.
