– Customer review on 30/01/2006 The Sookie Stackhouse series is somewhat like the Anita Blake (author Laurell K Hamilton) novels, but unlike Laurell K Hamilton, this series provides more of a story line and less sex. Don't get me wrong - I am a big Laurell K Hamilton fan, the Anita Blake series started out great for the first few books but lost the way when all the author wrote was about what the characters were wearing and who they will shag next.
Sookie lives in a world like ours except for one difference, Vampires are now a legal part of society. Sookie is a waitress that has a sort of disability - she is a mind reader. A vampire comes to town and Sookie discovers he's her perfect man as she cannot read his mind. Sookie uses her telepathic abilities to assist the local vampire lord.
The author has written a very easy readable book. Probably a little too easy to read and could do with a bit more depth, but the characters are believable and likeable and continue to grow with each book.
I bought the first four books from Less10.com. The next two are yet to be released in paperback.
1. Dead Until Dark, 2. Living Dead in Dallas, 3. Club Dead, 4. Dead to the World, 5. Dead as a Doornail, 6. Definitely Dead
