– Customer review on 17/11/2008 This novel is fantastic. No, it doesn't have a high sensual content, but even if that's your favourite part of the paranormal genre you won't be disappointed in this book, not just because there is a deeply romantic storyline but because the characters are wonderful and the plot is big and bright and engrossing. Some background information if you haven’t read the introductory short story in the anthology ‘On the Prowl’: Anna was Changed against her will three years previous to this story, and her life has been hell every since. The Pack she was forced to join was run by the very worst of psychotic werewolf mates whose will should make all the other werewolves in the Pack submit automatically. Anna was the exception. She didn't have to sit when ordered to, and was almost destroyed by horrendous punishments. It wasn't until Charles Cornick, son and enforcer of the Marrock, the wolf to whom all Alphas answered, arrived at the Pack and realised what she was that Anna discovered she is an Omega, a rare being who need not obey Alpha commands and who has the ability to soothe the savage beast. She is also Charles' mate, a wonderful and terrifying thing since her experiences haven't left in her any desire to mate. Still, anything is better than staying with the Chicago Pack, and in 'Cry Wolf' Anna ends up with Charles and his father in Montana, trying to fit in with the Marrock's Pack of dysfunctional werewolves and helping Charles hunt a rogue through the snow covered mountains. This novel has three-dimensional characters, a plot that offers excitement and surprises, realistic romance given the whole werewolf background, and enough emotional angst to satisfy the people who enjoy it without annoying people like me who don't.
