From an extraordinary new voice in fantasy comes the stunning conclusion to the Farseer trilogy, as FitzChivalry confronts his destiny as the catalyst who holds the fate of the kingdom of the Six Duchies...and the world itself. King Shrewd is dead at the hands of his son Regal. As is Fitz--or so his enemies and friends believe. But with the help of his allies and his beast magic, he emerges from the grave, deeply scarred in body and soul. The kingdom also teeters toward ruin: Regal has plundered and abandoned the capital, while the rightful heir, Prince Verity, is lost to his mad quest--perhaps to death. Only Verity's return--or the heir his princess carries--can save the Six Duchies. But Fitz will not wait. Driven by loss and bitter memories, he undertakes a quest: to kill Regal. The journey casts him into deep waters, as he discovers wild currents of magic within him--currents that will either drown him or make him something more than he was....

This series was amazing. As a jaded sci-fi/fantasy reader I thought that there was nothing new under the sun. How wrong I was. This trilogy came to a wonderfully satisfying climax in this the third of the Assasin series. Fitz and Nighteyes battle forces far beyond their own understanding, leaving them with scars, all the while knowing that to go home to those who would treasure him as himself is impossible.
I read this (as I did the previous 2) in one sitting. Robin Hobb is VERY talented.
Robin Hobb continues to deliver quality fantasy novels. This series was my first introduction to her work and i have never before been so engrossed in a book.
The final in an epic series did not disappoint. Hobb never lost momentum or vision, the story never got old or tired. This book was a heart wrenching read that should never be ignored on store shelves!
the third in this Trilogy was almost bound to be a disapointment, with two books that were so good coming before it a third in the series that lived up the hype was to much to ask for.
Robin Hobb delivered anyway, this is actually even better than the first two, particularily the last third of the book which delivers brilliantly on points that have been building throughout the series.
