This is the third book in a trilogy. I am totally engrossed. The Well of Shades follows the lives of the king of Fortriu and those who are closest to him. there is a bit of bit of history interwoven with magic, old religions, intrigue and the struggles faced by the main protagonists.I will be soory to finish the book it has given me some wonderful sleepless nights.

Excellent book. I was hooked from the first page. this book alone was the reason i am now a huge juliet marillier fan. The story line is brilliant and keeps you hooked all the way along. Juliets writing style allows for the imgination to flow and pictures to be formed beautifully in your mind. You feel, sense, laugh and cry with the characters. Once you read one, you must read them all.

The entire Bridei Chronicles is amazing. the three books follow a young nobelman growing up in the care of a Durid. It also follows the stories of several other characters. This is the final book in the trilogy, the story is ending with the young boy, now a man, a father and the King. The geography through out the trilogy is faultless.
