The final volume of the Wheel of Time, A Memory of Light, was partially written by Robert Jordan before his untimely passing in 2007. Brandon Sanderson, New York Times bestselling author of the Mistborn books, was chosen by Jordan's editor ? his wife, Harriet McDougal ? to complete the final book. The scope and size of the volume was such that it could not be contained in a single book, and so The Gathering Storm is the first of three novels that will cover the outline left by Robert Jordan, chronicling Tarmon Gai'don and Rand al'Thor's final confrontation with the Dark One. This short sequence will complete the struggle against the Shadow, bringing to a close a journey begun almost twenty years ago and marking the conclusion of the Wheel of Time, the preeminent fantasy epic of our era. The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow. Let the Dragon ride again on the winds of time.

It has been four + years since read the last WOT book 11, but picked this book up and all came back to me, honestly you wouldnt know it hadnt been written by Robert Jordon himself. Can not wait for the next two books to bring this series to its climax! Brandon Sanderson is an awesome writer and I urge you WOT fans to try his Mistborn Trilogy - truly one of the best fantasy series I have ever read!
After waiting so long and with the death of Robert Jordan, I was unsure about reading this book. However after seeing it over and over in the bookstores I finally picked it up and found to my relief and joy that it was as fantastic as the first few books in this series.
A grand book that starts bringing together the various threads the previous books have woven. Some great focussing on characters other than Rand and another well written book. Highly recommneded for lovers of the Wheel of Time.
A fantastic continuation of an epic saga, The GATHERING STORM returns to the world we love and picks up right where Knife of Dreams leaves off, with all our favorite characters, those we love and those we hate, Brandon Sanderson does an amazing job to bring The world of the Wheel of Time back to life and I think Robert Jordan couldn't have done a better job. The exciting and climatic ending leaves you wanting more and once again, an agonizing wait ensues, for when Sanderson rolls out the 13th book of this timeless saga.
FANTASTIC, FANTASTIC, FANTASTIC!!! So great to be back in the world of the Aes Sedai... Just a bit let down that this wasn't the last book as expected, and that I will have to wait (AGAIN!) for the next two books.
Albsolutely brilliant Novel. One of the best in the series. Takes you back to the fast paced style of the first three but retains the overall feel of the entire series. Ties up a lot of loose ends and really gets things set for the final two.
Robert Jordan still lives in the hearts of his fan's and in his books.
At first I was concerend about a new author finishing Robert Jordan's epic masterpiece. I've been reading these books for over 15 years and having a change in voice at this last stage could have ruined the series. Branden Sanderson's writing however managed to rise to the challenge and although I found it a little slow going at first (much like the last 3-4 volumes of The Wheel of Time series), the last 10 chapters or so had me on the edge of my seat desperate for more glimpses of my favourite characters. I think one of the pitfalls of the last few volumes has been the sheer number of characters now in focus with storylines following them all. Nynaeve, Elayne, Min & Rand, Matt, Perrin, Siuan, Egwene, and Aviendha for example are all in the middle of action, but not the same action and so sometimes you don't get to see as much of them as you would like. However with only two more volumes to go the pace is definitely drawing to a crescendo and I can't wait to see how it all concludes!
