So at long last Ash gets his own story. To be fair to the book the relationships we all have come to know are explained in great detail here, about the first 452 pages actually! We get to see how, when and why Ash is the way he is.
His mean family, stuipd sister, vengeful gods etc etc etc (Could anyone really HAVE that much bad luck......just don't think so.
My problem is this. Ash is a badass not the wimpy, down beaten fellow he is portrayed to be in this book. He a God for goodness sake. Kenyon in my option needs a shrink because the violence in this book is way to descriptive and goes on way to long....way to long!
The second half of this book is when he meets Tory. This section is way to rushed and the romance is unconvincing at best. Of course their relationship gets another book shortly but as Kenyon wrote this some time ago it can only be more of the same..... but who knows maybe I'll pick it up off ebay.
IF this series is to continue with any success Kenyon may wish to visit her first half a dozen dark hunter books and use the formula she used there as readers today enjoy a wide range of paranormal books that are quite well written so won't continue to pay the prices for the same old stuff from Kenyon.
Personally i think it's time for this series to end. All the books have the tortured hero's and insecure heroines and yes dark hunters are mean't to be this way but give them SOME back bone or a least a new story line. Look at Lora Leigh breed series same theme, different delivery.
So no I didn't like this book and for $29.95 I wish I had gone to the movies instead.

this is the most awaited dark-hunter book sofar! Acheron the leader and a$$ kicker of the dark hunters is finally going to have his past revealed in this long awaited book. So many questions will (hopefully) be answered. If you can't wait for August 5th have a peek in the back of Dream Chaser as Carl the web god has promised there will be an excerpt from Acheron inside ton help make the time go quicker.

I too thought it was a good story.

The brutal bits were truly dismal and there was a lot of it but all integral to the story. Whilst the love story between Ash and Tory was not bad - it seemed very lightweight when considered in context with Ash's background. Certainly well worth reading if like me, you finally wanted to get the whole dark hunter world into context.

Finally Ash has his own story and what a mammoth read it is. I finished it in a day and a half and loved it. I did tire of the brutality of the first part of the book and hoped that it would end for him soon. The second half was the modern story and came with all the regular characters. This book was a very enjoyable read and I think the series has been kick started again with fresh ideas. Well worth the price.
