As the very fabric of reality wears thin, all portents indicate that Tarmon Gai'don, the Last Battle, is imminent - and Rand al'Thor must ready himself to confront the Dark One. But, Rand must first negotiate a truce with the Seanchan armies, as their forces increasingly sap his strength. Perrin has made his own desperate truce with the Seanchan - he would deal with the Dark One himself to save his wife Faile from the Shaido. Meanwhile, Mat is caught up in a reckless escape from Ebou Dar with the kidnapped Daughter of the Nine Moons. But, Tuon is, in fact, in deadly danger from her Seanchan countrymen. Mat will have to risk much to prevail and still win her as his bride. All is in flux as established powers falter. In Caemlyn, Elayne fights to gain the Lion Throne, while trying to avert Civil War, and Egwene finds that even the White Tower is no longer a place of safety. The winds of time have whirled into a storm, and Rand and his companions ride in the vortex. This small company must prevail against the trials of fate and fortune - or the Dark One will triumph and the world will be lost.

When oh when will this series end???? It's like a movie that you've started watching and even though it's getting tedious and dragging on for an hour longer than it should, you're intrigued by some of the plot lines and individual characters and so you just have to keep watching so you can find out how it all ends! And to top it all off, the publishers keep changing the cover art so unless you wait until the end and buy them all in one go, you never have a nice matching set on your bookshelf. AARRGGHHH! Being a fantasy lover is so frustrating sometimes.
Robert Jordan has mastered the art of describing paint drying on walls. This whole series could have been finished in 5 books( to be generous) but Jordan had to tell us all about how good the drapes look in the royal ballroom or how the floor had these little gold flashings around the edges. That being said I like the overall story and am keen to see what happens in the end.
The last but thankfully not the final installment in the vivid and powerful Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan.
In this episode, Perrin Aybara devises a complicated and desperate plan to save his wife Faile from the renegade Aiel. Mat Cauthon discovers more about his unusual and destined wife to be,Tuon the heir to the Seanchan Empire. Egwene, the captured Amyrlin of the rebel Aes Sedai, goes on a campaign of non resistance to try and win over the White Tower. And the Dragon Reborn, Rand Al'thor will be faced with a devastating loss in another battle with the Forsaken.
A guaranteed and superbly entertaining installment in this truly epic series. Just Wonderful!
I just brought this book from fishpond and read it on sunday, what a wonderful book.
The slowness of the last four books storyline is completely turned around and many of the mysteries are revealed.
