I struggled to get involved in this book at all. Having thoroughly enjoyed Jennifer Falons previous books I thought this would deliver as well. Unfortunately I couldn't even finish this book as it frustrated me. Character relations annoyed me. And the plot seemed too 'epic' for me to enjoy it.

I found this book excellent as you would expect from JF. It was a little confusing at first as there are many characters and a couple of story threads which all appear in the first 60 pages but once I got my head around it - particularly the crassii references and characters - it was a great read. A fresh concept and very well written. I immediately liked 'Cayal' even though from the prologue and the key storyline you could only be led to believe he's one of the bad guys. Can't wait to read the next in the series.
