– Customer review on 26/08/2008 Definately not as good as all the others in the series. I was quite dissapointed and found it quite lacking in any sort of depth.
Would loved to have actually had a more solid ending and to see a story specifically for Jacob and Nessie. I have to say, I think the thing that irritated me most was the ridiculous name RENESMEE. Seriously, my teeth ground together every time I read it! I would have thought that Bella would have matured a little by this book, but no, she was still thinking, and acting like a 16 year old.
Oh, and don't even bother buying it from here, Borders has it for $22.95 - I have no idea why Fishpond is claiming it was $55.95 reduced down to $28.95!!

– Customer review on 24/08/2008 I absolutely loved the book and couldn't put it down. The twist was completely left field and worth the wait for the 4th book. I felt it was a fantastic ending to the series.
I was already invested in the characters and Meyers writing suked me straight in to the 4th novel and it just exploded from there, I couldn't put it down.

– Customer review on 25/08/2008 Absolutely and one hundred percent great. I couldn't imagine a better ending to this wonderful series. It may not be what I'd thought; but it fits, because it is all the authors own. And honestly- who could write a better end to a saga than the one who wrote the beginning and middle. Another Literary triumph for Steph. M.

– Customer review on 25/08/2008 Firstly I would like to say that to everybody who was complaining about the unexpected twist in the plot-line that they obviously weren't paying any attention in the previous books and can't have read nor understood them anywhere near as clearly as they have claimed to. The first third surprise was obvious for anyone who had paused to ponder the prologue and the second third surprise had been set up since Quil and Claire. Stephenie Meyer didn't, 'pander to her charachters whims;' but has quite obviously been setting this up from the begginning. As for her destroying Sam and Rose's images, I'd just like to ask YOU to remember how Sam first appeared to both Jacob and Bella when we first met him. This is EXACTLY in character for them. The same for Rosalie, even in Jacobs part he was saying how she was only doing it out of her own sence of selfishness. Personally I thought that the whole novel was a masterpiece. Doing the 2nd third of the book from Jacobs veiw was genius- It never, ever would have worked from Bellas and from this angle we see many nuances of both plot and character development that it would be otherwise impossible to understand. The 2/3 surprise was, (as previously mentioned,) not only set up from very early on; but perfectly explained confusions arizing from earlier books. As I've said, she's ver clearly and carefully set this up from the beginning. The ending was NOT hurried, neither was it pandering nor did it happen too easily. There is change in the air and the threat is not over. In fact- this is only the first stage. The threat is now known and may be even greater because of it. The fact that they know that they are still all in danger is a testament to this. Yet, the series DOES end happily; because they do have a plan; and that is all that really mattered. I very highly reccommend this book; but not only to people who are looking for a good sory-line. This is a literary marvel and as such may be unappreciated by people who are semi-literate or ignorant. It is well written, well crafted and just overly excellent. I am shocked and ashamed that it has less than 5 stars on here. Top marks and bravo to Stephanie Meyer. 5+ Stars from me.

– Customer review on 10/08/2008 This was a heartbreaker.
It was awful. Just awful. I had so loved Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse, I had become invested in the characters, taking them into my heart. I loved them, truly loved them and yet it seems not as much as Stephenie Meyers. I think she became so enamored by her characters, so driven by the idea of a happily ever after that she sacrificed everything to deliver them the most ludicrous of endings. For a woman with books peppered with tragic literary references (Wuthering Heights, Romeo and Juliet) and a Bronte-esque gothic delivery of angst and unattainable love I just can't understand how she got to this point.
She pandered, giving her characters everything that they wanted, there was no loss, no real struggle. It was easy, too easy. It is a disappointing ending to a fantastic series.

– Customer review on 16/08/2008 a lackluster finale to the Twilight saga. So many plot twists and turns that I just did not seem comign but sadly they were not for the better. This is in my opinion definietly the worst book out of the whole series. It doesnt gel with the other 3 books and it felt that the characterisation was all completely new characters. Destroying both Rosalie and Sam's hard won images. There were very few moments to this book that I truly enjoyed and agreed with. i spent most of my time reading this with clenched fists.

– Customer review on 14/08/2008 Had to read the book twice to decide if liked it. The twist in the story is so far what was expecting couldn't decide if I liked it or hated it, it did let the whole story down. It seem with the other 3 books the story was going along on this amazing story line then Breaking Dawn just completely went of centre. The big climax was built up then just went nowhere. I was happy that everthing was rounded off (so to say). But the twist was to unbelievable specially for a girl as Bella's age. There where so many things I wished Stephenie had spent more time explaining & a little less on others.
