Whilst I did enjoy this Pratchett novel, I must admit that I found it not to be quite up to his usual standard - but that is probably more just a matter of personal taste than anything else. As usual, you will get a lot of funny moments in this Discworld novel, however I must admit that I found some of the moments in the book to have less pace than they should have. That said, it is certainly still worth the read (I have read it more than once myself), but it would not be the first Discworld novel I would recommend.
Teppic is not happy. After years of training to be an assassin in modern ankh Morpork, the idea of going back to ancient Djelibeybi to rule unwisely and marry his aunt (now declared his uncle) is singularly unnattractive. Still, it is his duty...but is he really the one ruling? It seems the head priest is the power behind the throne...and is about to convict the most levelheaded person there to painful death.
this book is a masterpiece. it keeps you intrested from the word go. its a laugh out loud funny funny book. taking the mysterious ways of the aicent egyptians and their pyramids and spinning them into a new light. this book is a must read no matter wot age or sence of humer u will enjoy this book
One of Pratchett's stand alone novels and it works beatifully. A trainee assasin with moral difficulties is called back to the land of his birth to take up the crown his father has suddenly vacated (an unfortunate case of believeing he was a seagull...while he was quite high off the ground).
Almost as good as the recent novels this is a must read for both Pratchett fans and lovers of good writing alike.
