Wearing a bit thin at this point, maybe getting a little bit too much in the sex department, but still beautifully written. Blue Moon is another winner for Hamilton as she is just such a great writer. She brings her characters to life, and Anita Blake just gets more interesting, more honest and more complicated. A very good book, not one of the best, but if you love Hamilton then you will love this book!
Anita discovers it is tricky to have all those supernatural powers and supernatural leadership responsibilities. So much so, she has to get lessons from others, and help from a witch to deal with some of it before she is overwhelmed.
Throw in werewolf shagging and her having to deal with the jealousy of the situation with Richard, who reckons if she can do whoever, so can she. He, of course, has some hot wolf girls after him, considering he is the boss.
Laurell K Hamilton's series about Anita Blake is fabulous! The way you go through all these adventures with Anita and you really feel like you are inside her at times. Blue Moon finally see's some great stuff happening with Richard and Anita - and more vampire stuff as well. The great love triangle between Jean-Claude, Richard and Anita is heating up. You definately want to read these books in order though. Blue Moon is number 8.
I started to read these books when they first came out, and they were good. Not ‘I can’t wait for the next one’ good, but good all the same. They had good plots, unexpected characters, and just the right level of sexual tension to keep readers on the edge.
Somehow, all these good stuff just gets lost. You can trace the decline in the standards of the book for about book six. Sure, you keep reading because you want to know what’s going to happen… but somehow Anita’s inherent innocence, that survived all through those books and made her such a nice character to know, simply dies, and with it the whole series. Sorry loyal fans – you’ll love it I’m sure. For the rest of us, we’ll just re-read “The Laughing Corpse”.
I loved this book, it took Anita to another level of what she is will to do for her loved ones. I hate the love triangle thing because you just feel for Anita with all the mix emotions and values she holds. She knows how to be stuck in inbetween a rock and a hard place!!
Wow, these books just keep getting more and more intense! Right when you think that Laurell K Hamilton couldn't possibly come up with anything that's new and more exciting than her last plot, she comes out with another book that keeps you reading until it's 6 in the morning and you're turning the last page. If you're a fan then you'll know what I'm talking about. For the rest of you - what the heck are you waiting for?
An exhilirating story full of chills and thrills. Laurell Hamilton's highly fascinating and charismatic lead character, the necomancer and vampire huntress Anita Blake has to try to acquit former beau and werewolf pack leader Richard from rape charges. Along the dangerous and complicated path, she has to confront other hostile and deadly creatures of the night. Another yarn of erotic, hip and totally enthralling storytelling.
Okay, first of all, it was Richard's baby brother Daniel who called Anita at three o'clock in the morning to tell Anita that Richard was thrown into jail.
In Blue Moon, Anita's ex Richard is jailed in Tennessee, accused of rape. When Anita arrives with a lawyer and a harem of vampires and 'weres' supplied by Jean-Claude, it's clear that something is rotten in Myerton, Tennessee. The local cops are corrupt, and the trolls Richard was studying are threatened. But if she sticks around to investigate, the local Master vampire will attack her and her friends - and not to mention the local cops would personally kill her. The local werewolf clan isn't rushing to welcome her either, and her self-control is going to the, um, wolves.
Anita Blake is The Vampire Executioner, necromancer, lover and human servant to Jean-Claude - the charismatic Master Vampire of St. Louis - lupa of the Thronnus Roke Clan lukoi, (Werewolves) and Nimir-ra (leopard queen) of a pard of leopard lycanthropes.
Her life just can't get any more complicated can it?
