Anita Blake, vampire hunter the series continues.
I found The Harlequin was better than some of Laurell Hamilton's more recent books of the series, there was a better storyline and the reader wasn't bored by the constant sex.
The 'Harlequin' are the ultimate vampires who arrive in town due to being concerned by Anita's growing range of power. The mother of all vampires, Marmee Noir, is also back with an reason for her awakening.
The 'human' element is explored with regard to emotions and the meaning of family to both Anita & Edward.
This book is getting back to what the series is all about and I hope Laurell Hamilton continues this way.
I must say to begin with that I am a die hard Laurell K Hamilton fan. I adore her worlds and the characters she has in them , they are all so wonderfully alive for me. That said I did really enjoy The Harlequin, however because there is so much happening in Anita's day to day life the issue of the bad guy seems to get little play in the novel. Anita needs to fix some of the issues in her life (simplify), so we can focus further on mysteries of the first novels.
To be honest I think some characters need to understand their issues and deal with them, so we can all move on :) That said I'll be buying the next one, apparently it's based on Nathaniel :)
One of Hamilton's better novels, I thought. In 'Harlequin' the author does an excellent job of developing characters more to their full extent than in previous books. If you are interested in reading some more effective and psychological vampire-fiction then I would definitely recommend this. Note that you may not like this so much if you are an Anne Rice fan, as the vampire genre is treated very differently.
i think that this was a very great read, and i wonderful thing to spend my time on. i recently got it out from the public library, and i can safely say that people with all preferences will enjoy this book, it really was a great read. definitely read it if you ever have the chance! i am certain that you will atleast enjoy the storyline, and possibly even all the characters.
