Also new to childcare is the sneaky Prefect of Gaul, Crismus Cactus, who's masquerading as a nursemaid. Why do the Romans want this baby? Yet another brilliant story from those masters of comic book genius Rene Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. Confusion reigns when the Gauls find a baby dumped on their doorstep. Who is he? Who are his parents? Why was he left there and why on Earth are the Romans after him? Frantic and confused, Asterix and Obelix are stuck furiously juggling the twin jobs of caring for the bubs and trying to find someone-anyone! Else to dump him on. A great addition.
It’s the classic bachelor with the baby story, kinda clichéd except for when it’s in the village of the indomitable Gauls the story is neither clichéd nor boring. Chaos ensues as usual, plenty of fights and feasts and the story itself adds new texture and depth to the overall story of the Gauls and Romans. Great stuff as usual from two geniuses.
Asterix finds a foundling at his doorstop. Obelix of course thinks the Stork brought him. They make a minor mistake or too giving him a bottle that has some magic potion still in it.
It turns out the child is likely to be a highborn Roman, so they go touring and looking for the father. It takes the arrival of other royalty for them to learn the truth.
This is the 27th adventures published in French and English in 1983.
With Rene Goscinny deceased, Albert Uderzo began writing as well as illustrating the series. Not as good as the first 24, sales show that they are no less popular...
A cbabywinds up on Asterix's doorstep. Where's he from? Asterix takes care of the baby, but meanwhile, the roman legions are searching for the child too...
