– Customer review on 12/02/2008 One of Showalter’s best! While my favourite title in the Alien Huntress series is the first book, ‘Awaken Me Darkly’, and I admit I was disappointed in some of the others, ‘Savor Me Slowly’ has, if not surpassed ‘Awaken’ as my favourite, at least tied with it. Showalter is in top form with this book. The plot is fascinating, the characterisation not just powerful but believable, pretty good when the heroine is a genetically manipulated, mechanically augmented undercover operative and sometimes assassin ruled by her masters through a chip implanted in her brain. Her latest mission is to rescue Alien Investigation agent Jaxon Tremain from torture and death. What she doesn’t expect is to fall in love with him. Even less does she anticipate that he will fall for her, mechanical arm and all. Mishka is part machine, however, controlled by an influential creep who can force her to act against her will, but can he make her betray her heart? And even if the answer is no, Jaxon’s comrades, including the redoubtable Mia snow and her soulmate Kyrin from the first novel, are determined to kill her, to prevent a vision of her killing Jaxon from coming true. Lots of excitement, romance, sensuality, but most of all, lots of heart.
