Only so-so. I found the book conserverationist uninteresting and her story unengaging. The historical aspects, as the book passes through many hands and countries, to tell it's story is riveting. I wish the novel focused more on this. Worth the read but don't expect fireworks.
I am half way through this book and savouring it. It is easy to read in instalments and to let each little story soak in. Lovers of history will love this book. It is superbly crafted and provides personal stories set around great moments in history, all which reveal the story of the book and explain its mysteries. A great read!
I'm afraid that I found this only just readable. I know that many others have raved about it (just check out the Amazon reviews) but for me it was just another 'take it or leave it' book :-(
