Marian Keyes' sixth novel is a truly captivating story about a marriage that's gone wrong and a sensible girl who suddenly just wants to let her hair down. 'We will shortly be landing at Los Angeles International Airport. Please ensure your seat is in the upright position, that you weigh less than a hundred pounds and that you have excellent teeth'. Maggie Walsh has always done everything right. Sensibly. By the book. Until the day she leaves her husband and runs away to Hollywood, that is. Follow her on a journey of discovery, from suburbia to a suntan - taking in some heartache and lots of martinis along the way - as she discovers what she really wants in life and why she really walked out of her marriage.

This is a gr8 book, i have never read any of marian keyes books, but i assure you it won't be the last! I love the way she writes, she has a really knack of keeping absorbed by the story!
While I could sympathise with Maggie but I couldn't really get into the book. I loved the way she shocked her sister helen, who thought of her as a goody-goody, with the lesbian thing. However, Maggie did bore me a bit and i felt she needed to stop beingh so dull and get out and get stuff done. Also, LA sounded truly horrible. But still worth a read if you're a Walsh fan.
This book starts off with the main character leaving her family back and Ireland and flying off to LA. I really couldn't get into this book. I didn't like the main character and from the very start felt like she would have to return to her family so what was the point. There were some amusing parts along the way, like in all Marian Keyes books, but overall a bit of a disappointment.
As the 'good child' in my family I really sympathise with this character. The story starts with Maggie being fired and deciding to go to Hollywood to stay with her friend - leaving her husband back in Ireland. As the story develops, you learn more of Maggie and Garv's back story, and this puts a different spin on the unfolding story. The Walsh family are hilarious, and you also learn what the other Walsh sisters are up to as well.
Another rivitng book about a Walsh family member. Set in LA mostly it is different from her other books as I feel they always are a little too drenched in the irish culture for me, but this once was more mainstream and accesable, and I just loved it. Very funny, very relevent, for anyone who has ever had their heart broken, this is a must read.
definitly a m,keyes book its got the whole walsh family, L.A freaks and surgery addictics and fake tan disasters galore. love the bogans next door, and the hippys on the other side, can't say i'd ever walk around with panty hose on my head just to get flat hair though. good read.
I loved this book. After reading the other books which tell the stories of the 5 daughters of the walsh family it was incredibly funny to read about them as they follow one of the daughters to L.A. I could practically see Mammy Walsh's orange face. A very funny and heartwarming story
A grand, light hearted Summer read, beautifully written and hilariously funny - another one of those books that its best not to read on public transport for fear of guffawing out loud and being given funny looks!
Angels features Maggie Walsh, (her sisters Rachel and Claire have featured in previous Keyes books 'Rachel's Holiday' and 'Watermelon') who has broken up with her husband in London, and fled to her friend in LA to get away from it all. It follows her rehabilitation and reveals her story with humour and pathos.
