Recommended read. Set in the 1960s southern USA, 14 year old Lily runs away from her emotionally abusive father while holding tight to a glimpse of who her mother was. There is a sweet, whimsical tone to this book, but that description doesn't do justice to the fact that the story touches on some big issues, such as the racism in existance at the time in the southern states. Forget my review and read it yourself, for a touching, evocative story.
