– Customer review on 18/08/2008 I saw the movie quite a few times and thought it was an amazing production which focussed on some pretty intense issues.
So then it was time for the book. It hit me in different ways then the movie did, as I was able to make my own pictures in my head. There are also some different storylines from the movie, but there is still plenty of emotions.
Alan Duff does not mince his words in this book, he writes them as he wants, and how he wants to story to come across. There are some mistakes in the book which just makes the reader pay more attention and see how much New Zealand history they actually know.
