Rebecca Bloomwood just hit rock bottom. But she's never looked better.... Becky Bloomwood has a fabulous flat in London's trendiest neighborhood, a troupe of glamorous socialite friends, and a closet brimming with the season's must-haves. The only trouble is that she can't actually afford it -- not any of it. Her job writing at Successful Savings not only bores her to tears, it doesn't pay much at all. And lately Becky's been chased by dismal letters from Visa and the Endwich Bank -- letters with large red sums she can't bear to read -- and they're getting ever harder to ignore. She tries cutting back; she even tries making more money. But none of her efforts succeeds. Becky's only consolation is to buy herself something ... just a little something.... Finally a story arises that Becky actually cares about, and her front-page article catalyzes a chain of events that will transform her life -- and the lives of those around her -- forever. Sophie Kinsella has brilliantly tapped into our collective consumer conscience to deliver a novel of our times -- and a heroine who grows stronger every time she weakens. Becky Bloomwood's hilarious schemes to pay back her debts are as endearing as they are desperate. Her "confessions" are the perfect pick-me-up when life is hanging in the (bank) balance.

This book was a awesome read....i could very much relate in being a bit of a shopaholic myself. The characters adventures and the way she thinks is hilarious you can't help but love her. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a uplifting funny read, this definately one of my favourites.
Light hearted look at some of the problems faced by the modern single woman. Keeping up with the Joneses in a world where a single pair of shoes costs a months salary and one can't possibly be seen in the same outfit twice, where shopping is a vocation rather than a necessity and a girl can't resist a little therapy (retail therapy that is!) when life, or her bank manager, gets her down. Plot is somewhat predictable and the heroine does find a way out of the abyss in a somewhat absurd manner, but still a fun read.
Fantastic book! The way it's written is hilarous and you will just love her daily dilemma's with money - whether or not you have those dilemma's yourself! I thoroughly enjoyed it and have managed to read my way through nearly the entire series! Definitely well-worth the read!
Becky - or more accurately, the way Becky thinks - is hilarious! You won't regret this one if you're looking for a fun, funny, light hearted read. Highly recommended as something to take away with you to the beach or on holiday - you can devour it quickly or pick it up/put it down, and have a smile on your face while reading!
Confessions of a shopaholic is absolutely fantastic book it is a great comedy and I think every female can see a bit of themselves in Becky Bloomwood and has felt the way she has felt. i thought that it was well written, and it was also very funny and i could relate to it easily. i quite enjoyed this book as the storyline was humourous and realisitc. it was a lot of fun to read, and i think that it would be suitable for people of most ages and tastes in books, definitely a great one for the girls
A wonderful "laugh out loud" book. This is the first of the shopaholic series and a highly recommended read. If you think you have some shopaholic tendancies, you will feel comforted by this book - I'm sure NO ONE could be quite as much of a shopaholic as Becky is! Very highly recommended...enjoy!
This book is hilarious and a great, fun story. I found it hard to put down because it is so funny. Even my husband liked the excerpts that I read out - in particular the letters that Becky receives from her bank. I own the entire series and re-read them frequently. The books are great when you need a good laugh, and don't want anything too taxing to read.
A light hearted and funny book, this was chick lit at it's best. The shopaholic series are the only chick lit I read and enjoy. Light and fluffy, but funny all the same, this is a great book for the beach, sunday morning in bed, and just generally any time you want a quick easy mindless read. Read the whole series!
