"This expensive, glossy world is where I've been headed all along. Limos and flowers; waxed eyebrows and designer clothes from Barneys. These are my people; this is where I'm meant to be." -Becky Bloomwood Universally beloved by readers, Sophie Kinsella's national bestseller, Confessions of a Shopaholic, introduced the irrepressible one-woman shopping phenomenon, Becky Bloomwood. Now, in this hilarious follow-up, Becky and her credit cards are headed across the Atlantic.... With her shopping excesses (somewhat) in check and her career as a TV financial guru thriving, Becky's biggest problem seems to be tearing her entrepreneur boyfriend, Luke, away from work for a romantic country weekend. And worse, figuring out how to "pack light." But packing takes on a whole new meaning when Luke announces he's moving to New York for business-and he asks Becky to go with him! Before you can say "Prada sample sale," Becky has landed in the Big Apple, home of Park Avenue penthouses and luxury department stores. Surely it's only a matter of time until she becomes an American TV celebrity, and she and Luke are the toast of Gotham society. Nothing can stand in their way, especially with Becky's bills miles away in London. But then an unexpected disaster threatens her career prospects, her relationship with Luke, and her available credit line! Shopaholic Takes Manhattan-but will she have to return it? About the Author Sophie Kinsella is a writer and former financial journalist, and her visits to New York are of a purely cultural nature. She lives in England. From the Trade Paperback edition. This book is so light-hearted and fun to read, would recommend to any female - males just wouldnt get it. My maid comment would be that I did feel that it bordered on the ridiculous some of the things she did to avoid paying her overdue bills, but once finished you can't wait to read the rest in the Shopaholic series. I did enjoy The Undomestic Goddess better than this book, which is why I haven't given it 5 stars, but overall was a good laugh

I am addicted to this series. It's entertaining, humours and lots and lots of laugh. You will be amazed at the things that Becky does to justify her excessive spending habits. It's fabulous and a must read for all those shopaholics and fashion lovers.

While a hilarious, entertaining and uplifting read it does border on the unbelievable. Even someone in considerable trouble wouldn't do half the things Becky does.
Becky goes to Manhatten where she is blinded by all the selling opportunitys. That part is believable oonsidering the huge stores and sales. Some of the silly little expeditions though, and situations she gets herself into, can make being in debt seem like a joke.
A fun read, but not one of the genres shining moments.

A laugh a minute with Becky Bloomfield, the girl’s a walking disaster, if something can go wrong…..it will. From lost luggage (long story) to boyfriend missing in action (or is it just a figment of Becky’s imagination) to full blown front headlines news.
This adventure takes Becky to New York City…… shopper’s paradise …..Becky Bloomfield has died and gone to heaven or has she?
Whilst the Shopaholic books are a series they are light reading so missing a book or reading out of order isn’t a big deal. Great easy reading for those who enjoy a bit of humour

A further addition to the shopaholic series A light hearted and funny book, this was chick lit at it's best. The shopaholic series are the only chick lit I read and enjoy. Light and fluffy, but funny all the same, this is a great book for the beach, sunday morning in bed, and just generally any time you want a quick easy mindless read. Read the whole series!

Another in the shopaholic series. They all generally follow the same pattern of lighthearted and humourous with a great ending :) I thoroughly enjoy these books although they're rainy day books with not a lot to them!

Well well well, Miss Becky Bloomwood somehow manages to get herself into bigger trouble this time round. I am amazed and horrifed at the same time - is it possible that anyone can shop like her?! I know that it's fiction, but at the same time, it is probably based on some element of truth and it is absolutely terrifying how someone can just shop with such abandon, and huge purchases at that! The whole shopping thing did wear a bit thin for me in this book, I constantly had the urge to scream - WAKE UP, WOMAN! The level of self-denial was frightening. However, it was still a very enjoyable read, and just like the first book in the series, Becky bounced back from her financial woes and she had me cheering for her (and Luke). For those who enjoyed the first book, this sequel should not be missed.
