A man picks up a faded, well-worn notebook and begins reading to a frail elderly woman, his voice recalling the heartbreaking story of two star-crossed lovers and their poignant, bittersweet journey to happiness. So begins this touching novel that is a dual tale of love lost and found, and of a man's gentle battle to reach an aging woman who cannot remember the most cherished moments of her life. New Line Cinema is developing a screenplay from the novel. |

– Customer review on 06/07/2007 this book was fantastic. i thought it was much much better than the movie, as books often are better than the movie, as it had much more detail and depth to the characters. the story of the notebook is so beautiful, and is one of my favourite love stories. i recommend it to those who dont mind a teary movie once in a while

– Customer review on 30/04/2008 A Tear jerking love story that spans a life time. For the true romantic, those who want to escape to a dreamland filled with drama, heartache and happiness. I good book for a quick fix as it dosn't take long to read. Watch the movie by all means, but read the book first.

– Customer review on 05/10/2007 I was really disappointed with this book. I read it after having seen the movie. As far as the movie goes, I didn't really love it, but I can see the allure. However, I thought the book was terribly written. The story is obviously similar, with one major exception, that doesn't actually change the storyline significantly. I wouldn't recommend this book to others. It is however, a very easy, quick read.

– Customer review on 28/07/2006 If you cried in the movie you will cry in the book. The only thing letting this book down however is that it isn't long enough!? the movie, at 2.5 hours was almost not long enough but this book could have been another 600 pages and i would have still called it an amazingly compact love story between two beautiful characters. You are there with them for every moment, feel their blissful pain, passion and remorse. I would recommend to anyone with a soft spot for a sappy love story!? a great sunday afternoon read.

– Customer review on 31/03/2006 A sweet and touching story, although I did think it got a bit cheesy at times. I'm definitely not one to turn up my nose at romance novels (I've had my fair share of Judith McNaught books) but I did have the urge to roll my eyes at some bits. I guess I wasn't entirely convinced - 14 years apart, that's a looooong time. Still, it's a lovely story and since almost everyone I know has gushed over the movie, I will be sure to watch the film version as well.
