John, a young army recruit, grew up with his autistic dad in North Carolina. While on leave fr the army, he falls for Savannah, a young college student doing a charity project for the summer. After 2 weeks of bliss, they face a year of separation as John is based in Germany - can their relationship survive? I don't want to reveal anymore, but I thought that this story was unrealistic and there were a lot of cliches. The parts on autism are interesting but Sparks only scratches the surface and at the end of the day autism doesn't really add much to the story. Not Sparks' best.
