– Customer review on 06/10/2008 This book is a continuation of the Colleen McCullough's classis 'Masters of Rome' series. This book picks up where 'The October Horse' left off, although it could also be read as a stand alone book. 'Antony and Cleopatra' tells the story of Octavian's (later Augustus) rise to absolute power as well as the fall of Mark Antony. Like all of the other books in the series, this book has been thoroughly researched and brings to life the thoughts, feelings and motives of some of the most famous people in history. This book (along with the rest of the series) is a must read for all fans of historical fiction. I doubt that a historical fiction book (or series) has ever been so meticulously researched and it puts all other books about this time period to shame. A definite must read.
