I found the book very interesting and it is well worth the read as it tells about how the inmates on the green mile cope with day to day circumstances leading up to their execution
Though I wouldn't call myself a fan of Stephen King, this series is a superb journey into the supernatural, death row, and the forces of good vs evil. I remember being captivated reading the books first when I was 10 or 11 and my grandmother found one of the books and read the bit where the Billy the Kid tatooed antagonist is 'pissing' through the prison bars. She was disgusted and scolded me and my parents for allowing me to read it. A few years later, she saw the movie and she seemed to have forgotten the incident, and was delighted that I too had seen/read it as we talked about it. This book appeals to all ages I think, though dark overtones may not be as suitable for young readers as they were for me.
Quite a change for Stephen King, not so much horror but more of a gripping drama about a man who is on death row with an ability to perfrom miracles. Made into a movie starring Tom Hanks, the novel is very similar to the movie, so fans of the film may want to check this out. Also worth checking out for Stephen King fans.
this is one of the best king novels, it is more about magic and the supernatural more then horror and is just a good heart felt story like shawshank redemption, it follows the story of a prison in the 1930's with criminals on death row, a magic mouse and a group of brilliant characters, a man is on death row and he has been framed, will fate help to save him, this has so much depth, brilliant characters, love, misunderstandings and all the best parts of human nature, a must for anyone who loves a good story, highly recommended to all and great in one big book
As always with Stephen King his books totally outshadow any movies made of them, but there are a few exceptions; The Green Mile, and The Shawshank Redemption are two exceptions. However if you enjoyed this movie you will be blown away with the book. This book shows how King has matured in his writing. I would have no hesitation in reccomending this book to anyone and everyone.
I actually read the Book Before i saw the Movie, and as good as the movie was it didnt come close the being as good as the Book. The green Mile was one of
stephen Kings Best Novels
The green mile
I loved the movie of this book. And I think that I learnt even more reading it this way. I think that you can follow the movie better after you have read this. But I would say that you should only buy this is you liked the movie as it really well help. Five out of five stars.
Definitely one of Stephen King's better written books. The pace is solid and the storyline engrossing. All the characters are well drawn and plausible. Equal parts horror and mystery and at times extremely moving and tragic. King always does his research well and this is no exception. Definitely one for the collection.
Awesome book. This book has it all - it makes you laugh, sad, angry - as well as a mix of other emotions. Just when you think you've seen him at his best, King pulls another rabbit out of the hat and writes something like this. I highly recommend adding this to your collection.
