To the forest on the shore of the Kingdom of the Isles, the orphan Pug came to study with the master magician Kulgan. But though his courage won him a place at court and the heart of a lovely Princess, he was ill at ease with the normal ways of wizardry. Yet Pug's strange sort of magic would one day change forever the fates of two worlds. For dark beings from another world had opened a rift in the fabric of spacetime to being again the age-old battle between the forces of Order and Chaos.

Magician Apprentice is an interesting tale, It expands upon the original magician by Feist, Bu separating the book into two individual parts it allows Feist to go further and into more depth, By allowing the author this ability the world and therefore the fantasy comes to life even better, As well as more vivid detail been introduced we get to re love the characters from the original story even more. Overall this is a good read, in the end I couldn't put the book down even though I already knew the outcome. Reading this has lead me to purchase the entire rift war saga....
This is the original tale of the magician’s apprentice Pug and it is excellent in all ways. The story however expands further than the usual cliché of apprentice to master stories as it encapsulates a whole new world and universe and does it with ease. If you are going to read any of Feist’s books this is the one to go for.
