– Customer review on 02/04/2007 The Secret Life of Bees deals with issues such as abuse, teenage angst, racial inequality and the power of friendship. We see the world through the eyes of Lily whose father has verbally and emotionally abused her sinse her mother's death. In her world, nothing seems fair and as the story goes on Lily realises that she is not the only one in the world who has suffered injustice. Set in the Deep South of America, the characters described are believeable and endearing, especially the honey-making sisters that Lily befriends. A great read.
