Harry Potter is a wizard. He is in his third year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It's always a relief to return to school after summer with the Dursleys. However, Harry doesn't realise that this year will be just as eventful as the last two! The atmosphere at Hogwarts is tense. There's an escaped mass murderer on the loose, even the Muggles have been warned. The sinister prison guards of Azkaban have been called in to guard the school and Harry, Ron and Hermione rapidly discover why all witches and wizards live in fear of being sent to Azkaban. Lessons, however, must go on and there are lots of new subjects in the third year - Care of Magical Creatures and Divination among others, plus the delights of trips to Hogsmeade, the only village in the UK entirely populated by the magical community.

this is a great harry potter book! really complex in terms of plot, and leaves you wanting more, which is always good in a book. this has a great suprise revealed at the end that you just do not see coming, which is really excellent. tells of sirius black escaping from the feared wizarding prison azkaban, and the effects of that.
It seems every body is worried about Harry Potter except Harry himself at the start of the flawless third book of the Harry Potter series. Everybody, from Arthur Weasley to Professor Dumbledore, seems to think escaped murderer Sirius Black has gotten out for the sole purpose of killing Harry, but what is his real reason? Read to find out
Harry Pooter and the prisoner of Azkaban is one of the most engaging books to come out of the series. An escaped murderer is on the loose and Harry gets the notion he is the target. Black Dogs everywhere haunting him, Harry is in for a huge surprise.
Whilst the first book was very mediocre, by the third book the Harry Potter series has dramatically improved. The characters are less stereotyped and Harry is actually showing some character development and complexity! I enjoyed this book a lot, although some irrational things still annoy me [why, if Potter's relatives hate him, didn't they put him up for adoption, why is he allowed to the wizard school, why doesn't he stay in the wizard world or alone with his sizeable fortune, instead of returning to the broom cupboard each holiday etc.]. Overall this book is fun and an improvement on the poor first book.
An adult cover is a good idea, but the children's cover of this edition is relatively passable for adults too.
A brilliant book. The third novel in JK Rowlings exceptional Potter series and a real blockbuster. You won't be able to put the book down.
Don't be dissuaded by the movie- unfortunately, this was a rather poor display of the magical world in which Harry lives- and that's the best I could say about it.
Harry Potter and Prisoner of Azkaban is my personal favourite in the series.
If you haven't Heard of Harry Potter then its time to move out from under that rock!
JK Rowling's Creation is a brilliant creation which carry's its reader through the a magical world which runs parallel to (but hidden from) our life. The Story threads, seemingly simple to begin with, weave into a complex fabric which encourages the reader to expand their reading so that every clue, however small, is understood.
Orphaned at a young age Harry is raised by his Aunt and Uncle, who treat him as a servant, It is not until his eleventh birthday that the Magical world fully envelopes him.
Now with his Friends Ron and Hermione. Harry struggles to master his wizardly powers, while Various powers try to destroy him. Powers which lead back to Voldemort the Man who Killed his Parents and who's very name evokes fear in the Wizarding Community.
