Reading this story, being a 14 year old became a lot scarier for me,
alhough it's a great story on how one death can change a family so dramatically!
But in another sence is quite haunting to the fact of what happend to her.
It made me really think about after life to the point where i feel self-conscience
that my ancestors are watching me!
This haunting story gets under your skin and stays with your soul. The thought of being in the mind of a murdered little girl is
really sad and emotional, but Sebold manages to make the reader feel that there must be more on the other side, that we indeed have angels watching over us and will one day be there too. The writing and story are unique and special. A good, moving book.
This book has haunted me for years. I feel in love with the possibilities within this story as a young girl watches her family from afar. A fantastic read.
This story tells of the devasting impact the tragic loss of life can have on an entire family. I found it emotionally crippling at times and at other times it made me smile through my tears as the protagonist reflected on the events from heaven.
It is definitely worth reading and most thought provoking although i did find the ending did the story little justice.
Disappointing read after all the hype. I found it fractured, not particularly well written, and disppointed with the ending. Had the potential to be a fantastic book.
this is a book as frustrating as it is brilliant. young susie salmon is brutually raped and murdered by her next door neigh bour, a mentally ill man, and watches her family from heaven as they try to deal with her disappearance and the quest to find her murderer. it is stunning
A very poignant tale of life,death,loss and the future. A difficult read if you have children - some of the writing is quite graphic, and tears fall before you can stop them. Nicely written, simplistic, as a narrative of a young girl would be.
Perhaps some would find it to be healing if they have lost someone under tragic circumstances.
I brought this book not really knowing much about it except that Peter Jackson is turing it into a movie. I brought this book last friday and by saturday night i had finished it. It was a fantastic read which i just couldn't put down, it really drew me in. This is the best book i have read in a long time.
This probably has to be the best book I have read in a long time. If you haven't read this yet, then you've totally missed out on the best read of the year. I highly recommend that you read this book, it's really sad and had me crying a couple of times. 10 out of 10 for this book
