– Customer review on 22/01/2006 The Director's Cut of 'The Chronicles of Riddick' is a *much* better version of the DVD to watch - the additional material ties the story together a whole lot better, and fills in the backstory. This novelisation, written by renowned sci-fi writer Alan Dean Foster, includes the additional material of the Director's Cut and more (e.g., deleted scenes), yet remains true to the script/screenplay. This gives renders the plotline a lot more coherent, but retains the action and originality of the theatre release. If the Director's Cut had been the one shown on the big screen, this film would have surely received much better reviews and box-office takings.
The book also contains an appendix, which covers the history of the necromongers and Lord Marshalls up to the point of the film, and an epilogue which, although only a few pages long, takes the story beyond the closing scene of the film.
