Classic, brilliant James Patterson.
Always gets Detective Alex Cross in the thick of it with more twists and turns than you can imagine. Great read and compulsive page turner to the end. Enjoyed every breathtaking minute of it.
Part of the popular but occasionally erratic Alex Cross series Roses Are Red is one of the better entries a solid cop thriller with the dogged Cross investigating nasty crimes and even nastier criminals and eventually emerging on top. Very readable and well paced. Hard to put down and satisfying.
Roses are red follows the Mastermind, who is one killer Alex Cross cannot get his finger on, something doesnt seem right. IN roses are red, the mastermind is orchestrating a series of bank robberies that dont seem to be about the money - families and bank staff are murdered as the mastermind flexes his muscles and starts a war with cross.
This was my first experience reading James Patterson and his protagonist, Alex Cross. I had to try to grasp some of the characters which had figured in previous Cross novels. it was a fast read because of the short chapters, some a little longer than a few paragraphs. The ending seemed rushed with another murder and an unsatisfactory twist in the last chapter. This was just a vacation read, but I felt baffled and cheated when all was done!
I certainly enjoy a good crime novel, and this was one. Not, I suppose the greatest writer there is, but one who really gets you in, and makes you want to keep on turning pages well after you should be asleep!
Once I finished this I immediately started on the next book - violets are blue. I don't usually do that, but in this case, I really wanted to keep reading!
