– Customer review on 16/10/2007 I think this is the best of the Raintree trilogy. This is the second book in the series, and starts Gideon Raintree, a police detective who sees ghosts, which is handy when it comes to solving crimes, but a bit awkward to explain when you get a new partner. A gorgeous female partner who is already suspicious of the way you live, thinks you might be a dirty cop, and keeps turning up at inopportune moments. Then there’s the little ‘ghost’ girl who keeps appearing claiming he’s going to be her daddy. No way is Gideon going to bring children into a world of violence and death, but you know kids, they usually get their way. When an assassin targets Gideon’s family, and a psychic war is about to erupt, Gideon has to trust his partner Hope Malory, but will she believe him when he tells her his secret?
