– Customer review on 26/09/2007 A nice book, some romance, a well-written if exceptionally annoying child character whose tantrums can kill, but it’s just a book. Nothing magic to it, this third in the Raintree trilogy all written by different authors, it’s just your typical paranormal. Mercy is of the Raintree clan in contemporary U.S.A. She is the mother to Eve, whose father, unknown to everyone but the irritatingly prescient Eve, is an Ansara, the leader of the clan trying to wipe the Raintrees from the face of the Earth, as the gooder-that-good Raintrees had once almost done to them. Mercy and Judah had slept together once, she not knowing who he was. Now Eve is six, Judah comes to murder Mercy, as one of the heads of the clan, discovers he has a daughter, and goes all gooey on the inside. Mercy knows she should kill Judah before the coming Raintree-Ansara war, watches him with Eve, and goes all gooey on the inside. Throw in a war, a prophecy, and an amazingly irritating child, and you have an okay read, although you should read the series in order.
