Sherryilyn Kenyon takes you back to a time before Christ, to give readers an insight into the horrific human life of Acheron Parthenopeous. Being the son on the Goddess of Destruction (the great Destroyer) Apollymi, she is forced to give up her son to the human world in order to save his life from his father who believes Acheron to be the worlds final fate. In a fast desicion Apollymi gives up her beloved son to a King and Queen in hope that they will keep him safe from harm and treat him like any prince should be treated. However Apollymi doesn't know the horror and suffering that by putting her precious son into the human realm would cause him.
I didn't want to stop reading this book, and was very upset when it came to an end. This book will make you cringe, make you cry, make you laugh, and most of all make you feel love like no other book can do.
It's a 10 out of 10 from me and i hope everyone enjoys this book as much as i did.

Oh please tell the truth!
This book is alot of hard work. If you're into ALOT of mindless torture, like 452 pages of it then this book is for you.
The book is spilt into two parts. The first part explains in great gory detail what happenS to Acheron to make him as he is today. (I hope Sherrilyn Kenyon got this out of her system by writing this book because if she didn't she needs a shrink!)
He has to deal with a resentful family. a moron of a sister and vengueful Gods. Alot for any person! Isn't he the son of a God for goodness sake?
Acheron is a badass not some spineless wimp as he is protrayed in the first part of the book.
The second half of the book is where Acheron meets Tory. At last you can relax abit into the story. The romance is rushed at best because soooooooo much time was dedicated to the mindless whippings, rapes etc in the first part of the book. Still better than part 1 though.
Overall certainly not enjoyable at all. Check out the more honest reviews listed on the amazon website before spending $30.00 on this book.

You have to own this book!!!!! It is absolutely brilliant. Sherrilyn Kenyon would have to be one of my most favourite writers, I have followed her Dark Hunter novels from the begining and have kept every one of them. This book is double the length of her previous books as it deals in depth with Acherons past life up until presant time, It is impossible to put down!!!!

Sherrilyn Kenyon delivers yet again. She has an outstanding ability to characterise and empathise. I'm so grateful that her editors didn't balk at the length and that she was given the ability to give a great back story to Acheron. If you love the Drak Hunters, buy it right now!

Oh very much a must read. If you have read any of the other Dark hunter novels then you need to read this. It is divided in two the first part explains all the mysteries to the mysterious leader of the dark hunters. His life was dark and violent and it explains his relationship with the Heifer goddess and why he does what he does and why he will never forgive her. The second half of the novel is the typical love story and you kind of go ahh when he finally gets the type of life he has been denied for millenia. A pity that the other dark hunter novels will have to take a different twist as no more can be freed because of what Acheron does but ah well I bet there will be other dramatic twists for us to follow.

WOW!!!

This book was totally awesome! To finally understand Acheron, even though he had a really bad childhood / adulthood, he finally met someone that actually cared for him and didnt use him for what he was brought up for.
I couldn't put this book down. SERIOUSLY!
I'm glad when it came to present day and Ash was his usual self - like in all the other books. I love all the comedy / funny remarks that are made.
The first half of the book is on his earlier life, from when he was born, who his mother is etc etc. That part is VERY HARSH, from the other books you pick up, he is 11,000 years old but he's always been like this funny / good-looking / scary guy. After reading about his life, you just wanna cry. He really had it hard! It is a long story (800 pages or so), but well worth the read if you love the Dark Hunter Series. And even if you havent heard about it, this book would be the good starting point, you read about how it all started. AND THEN YOU ARE TOTALLY HOOKED!!! And then you have to read every book in the series.
Although for me, Acheron was the newest book out, i have read all the other books before this one, and they are just as good!
Definately give this book a 10 out of 10! Awesome!!!

All I can say is, if you haven't brought yet, don't know why your still waiting...it's definitely a MUST BUY BOOK! Like previous reviews, this was definitely worth the wait and definitely a keeper.

This book is definitely a keeper. I believe that you have to read the series as the author brings some of her past characters back to support this story. The beginning of the book was a big hard to get through but it answered so many questions it was necessary to come to understand the intricacies that make up Acheron. I liked how the author moved for a lighter side of her storytelling skills in the second part of the book. Well done! Five Stars absolutely. Whose next . . .

a lot of people have had mixed reactions to this book, but i really just loved it, start to finish. it's not the first book i would read if i was just coming into the series, as it relies on a lot of back-knowledge of the characters. fantastic!

Great read,well worth the wait for this edition to the series.
