Butch’s story, with some of John’s thrown in, and if you don’t know what I mean then you really should read this series from the beginning. Butch, the ex-cop, has been living with the Brotherhood for a while now, longing for Marissa, the beautiful vamp who doesn’t think she’s beautiful [yep, one of those], and trying to forget the family who didn’t want him. Next thing, he’s attacked, he’s carrying bad stuff inside him, Marissa risks her life to be with him, and you’d think he and M are finally gonna get it together, which has been on the cards since book 1, but nooooooo. To tell you too much would be to spoil the story, and like all of Ward’s books there are stories within stories. Suffice to say, Butch turns out to be more than anyone expected, including the naughty bad Omega, and he and Marissa - well, that was the most annoying thing in the book. Ward takes the whole find - the - vamp - lose - the - vamp - repeat - until-nauseous thing too far. You just want to whack them both at the end. Fortunately love conquers all, even potential whacking.

i have only just discovered this series by J R Ward & can i say in a word "fantastic" i am constantly amazed that writers can always find some new way to spin my favorite topic - vampires! and J R's vampires are pretty hot! can't wait for the next book......keep them coming please.

This book is centred around the character Butch and Marissa. I love all this series! Hot blooded and sexually charged Vampire Warriors!!! Whoa ... just too hot. And definately AO. I've read it twice and would recommend JR Ward to all my 18+ friends. She is a fantastic writer thats puts you into the realism of it.... And as an added review, I've read the next in the series too (Lover Unbound) .... even better!!!! Vischous is so the Brother I want to make MINE.

J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood is one of the best new romance series to come out in years. This is the fourth book of the series and Ward is definitely not slowing down yet! We met Butch the human ex-cop in book one and have wondered where his story will go, particularly with the pale and tragic figure of the vampire Marissa waiting in the wings.

Ward manages to build up the characters of both Butch and Marissa, as well as take us another step in the plot of the big-bad Omega and the Lessening society. Fans will love this book and eagerly anticipate the next in the series, 'Lover Unbound'.

This book headed in a slightly different direction to J.R. Wards previous Black Dagger Brotherhood books. It is slightly different but, as always she provides fabulous, sexy novels full of suspense. This one was not my favourite of the series, but should not be missed.

The Black Dagger Brotherhood series is one of the best of the current crop of paranormal books out there. This is the story of Butch, the human member of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, and of Marrissa his love. These books are Vampire novels at their best, and long my J R Ward keep writing them! While I am really enjoying the Black Dagger Brotherhood series as a whole, this one just didn't do it for me. It is Butch and Marissa book. I quite liked Butch as a secondary character but not as a main. Marissa also didn't grab me.

It is written in a similar vein to the other books, I still think it is quite well written.

My favorite is still Lover Eternal.

Book four of the series and definitely a great read that does not let the series down.

Admittedly the Butch and Marissa story is not the best and does not compare to the couples in the previous three books but the fast past action and ever changing plot helps the story along, with constant updates on the other characters.

Highly recommended but try to read the series in order, Lover Eternal is my favourite so far.

Book four was the best so far in a series that just keeps on getting better and better! This is Butch and Marissa's story, and how J.R.Ward goes about the story makes it so worth reading! What an amazingly talented author she is. Roll on October and V's story! If you haven't yet read this series you are in for a real treat. It starts with Dark Lover, then Lover Eternal and Lover Awakened. Although the stories are about vampires, they are the best love stories I have read in a very long time. Thank god JR Ward plans on writing at least ten of them! Definately recommended!

I love this series of books. It's got danger, romance, humour...
With 3 stories down and at least another 3 characters to write about, this is an unputdownable series. Most similar to Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunters - if you like them, you should enjoy these fellas!
